Welcome to the official website of  RTOERO District 15 Halton, serving retired educational workers in Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Acton and Georgetown.

We are one of the 51 districts of the Retired Teachers of Ontario, a voluntary organization of 80,000 retired Ontario educators, which serves as the official voice for all retired Ontario teachers and other educational workers. RTOERO advocates on behalf of all members with all levels of government and partners with other groups to promote issues that affect seniors at large. RTOERO offers its members a variety of services and programs including an excellent health and insurance program.

District 15 Halton was founded in 1973. To read more about our first 40 years please read the history pamphlet produced by member, Jan Murdoch.

With over 2,900 members at the local level, District 15 Halton is one of the larger RTO districts. We have a variety of committees to support our membership, and we sponsor many social events such as breakfasts, special luncheons and theatre outings to promote fun and fellowship. We also publish our newsletter, the Halton Herald, three times a year, and our monthly e-letter, Rapport. Through communication we strive to keep members abreast of new developments and events.

President's Message 2019-2020

Delayed AGM and Board of Directors for 2020-2021

First of all, RTOERO District 15 Halton has postponed the Annual Meeting, originally scheduled for May 2020, until 2021. We learned from RTOERO that we were not obliged legally to undertake an annual meeting and rather than try to communicate and organize a ZOOM session with potentially 3000 members, we felt that it was more prudent to keep people informed via our several forms of communication – Halton Herald, Rapport, Facebook, and Website.

Second, the Executive has agreed to extend the term for the current District 15 Executive team from June 2, 2020 until June 10, 2021.

However, if health restrictions are lifted in the spring of 2021 and we can meet in person, then we have the option to hold an Annual Meeting earlier and allow for an Executive election.
